About this provider
Overview
Behavioral Psychology Associates,P.C., recently celebrated 26 years of addressing the needs of children, adolescents, and their families in the northwest suburban corridor of Chicago. Our main office is located in Schaumburg, IL, with satellite offices in Arlington Heights and Barrington.
Our professional team offers services that include individual therapy for children, teenagers, and adults; group therapy for children and adolescents; couples counseling; family therapy; psychiatric evaluations and treatment; psychological and psychoeducational testing; tutoring; and academic coaching.
Pediatricians and pediatric specialty physicians routinely refer children and teens to BPA to pinpoint the diagnosis of Attention-deficit/hyperactivity (ADHD) and related disorders.
Children and teens with ADHD and related disorders are also referred to BPA for treatment. We offer parent-child training, behaviorally-based family therapy, school-liaison work, group therapy, individual treatment, and psychiatric evaluations as needed.
We also offer a summer camp that exposes children to a range of potentially effective treatment activities. Our camp, Building Capable Kids, is suited to the behavioral needs of children with ADHD and related disorders.
Important components of Building Capable Kids summer camp:
*Building Capable Kids is facilitated by licensed professionals in behavioral health care.
*Building Capable Kids uses volunteers who are graduate students or undergraduate students in psychology or related fields.
*Campers at Building Capable Kids are given frequent feedback on their behavior, for example, for following directions, for complying with general camp rules, and for complying with rules associated with specific activities. Our team offers a rich schedule of feedback that is typically unavailable in more traditional day camps.
*Parents are asked to participate in a minimum of one parent feedback class during the week. This class is designed to help parents promote the use of the strategies reviewed in camp in other settings, for example, home, school, and with friends.
Location
Building Capable Kids is housed at Immanuel Lutheran School in Palatine, Il. The facilities at Immanuel Lutheran are perfect for children interested in a fun summer experience.
Sessions
Each session of Building Capable Kids runs for one week, from 9am until noon, Monday through Friday. Four weekly sessions are offered throughout the summer.
Start date
June, 2017.
