About this provider
The Starfish philosophy, which provides 1:1 support for campers, is based on engaging campers in a variety of well-structured traditional summer camp activities in a safe and predictable environment. Through the use of Strategies, Tools and Keys, we make camp a positive, safe place where campers are actively participating in things they enjoy. We help children learn what it means to be accountable for their choices through positive feedback and without embarrassment, enabling them make more productive choices in the future. Starfish is a place to "learn, grow and have fun."
Everything at Starfish is specifically geared to meet the needs and abilities of each bunk, activity group, and child. Staff consistently seek innumerable ways to provide campers with positive reinforcement while helping them to recognize and articulate their strengths. At Starfish, we believe in "catching children being good" and capitalizing on those experiences as teachable moments, in addition to setting up therapeutic supports to help children during times when they are struggling.

Safe and Secure
This will be my now 15 year old son's 5th year at Camp Starfish. The tools learned by him and by MOM are amazing. We had them on our fridge and continued to follow them throughout the year. Watching your child begin to make friends and hang out with other kids while very well supervised is wonderful. I CAN RELAX while he is there. The counselors are kind and watch everything that's going on. The admin staff has been nothing short of amazing as they've listened to my concerns and concentrated on what I chose to be his focus for the session, i.e. watching that filter free mouth
Beyond Belief!
I am moved every time I think of the 2 full weeks my daughter had of unapprehensive joy @ Camp Starfish. Since 3rd grade when ADD started rearing it's ugly head in my daughter's life, (creating social difficulties, feelings of ineptness and isolation) I"ve wanted to find a place where she would feel safe, unjudged to be herself, and free to spread her wings without failing. She had never been away overnight, let alone 2 wks!. I am so thankful to have taken this leap of faith and trusted my child to this special place. True happiness has been ignited somewhere deep.
