Extensions worked until they didn’t.

The experts said it's okay you are allowed more time because you have ADHD.

But you learned that there would always be more time so it made you feel less confident about yourself because you were different and also taught you, you didn’t have to be organized in your habits because there would be an extension anyways.

In high school, problems with extensions can mean summer school. Writing becomes difficult as well as social skills of rapport building.

In college, if you got away with extensions in high school, college extensions allowed you to party a lot because hey I get an extension. Maybe you got through it. But sometimes it's that one teacher that says no extensions and you find yourself not able to get your degree or worse on academic probation.

In adulting, you mastered high school and college. But oh wow your ADHD has caught up with you on work deadlines. You’ve gotten pink slips before and it was always your boss's fault. Until the patterns kept repeating. Cultures are getting frustrated because you aren’t getting your work done on time, affecting the company’s project deadlines. Do you fear how will I ever get my ADHD under wraps? You say, I know I keep avoiding my romantic relationship but they just don’t understand I have ADHD. I could always do what I wanted and I always got more time.

Better flexible and productive systems for breaking the extensions habit are in order. Replacing them with coping skills from comedy and establishing better rapport skills from the inside out is the solution to welcome in a life that feels good to you, you manage it well, your ADHD symptoms are managed and you are at peace with them.

Not everyone gets a life that feels like play. But when you make comedy-based solutions part of your personal growth strategy, your ADHD becomes a beautiful brain that creates abundance.

Best ADHD Investment that I ever made!

The tears are gone! It has been a long and emotional road to find the right resource for my daughter’s needs and find peace. Due to ADHD and other factors, my daughter's writing assignments brought on extreme anxiety. Despite her desire to write, she had tremendous struggles in getting the words down on paper. Jennifer's immense experience as an ADHD coach and writing coach combined with her gentle encouragement and patience were exactly what my daughter needed to move forward. I am so relieved to have found the right support. To more accurately understand how deep these struggles were prior to Jennifer’s support, here’s a snapshot of that former life: Like many NVLD kids, problems in school did not show up until middle school. My daughter’s academic struggle and social anxiety brought her to a breaking point in 7th grade. She also was diagnosed with low adrenal function (often due to chronic stress). We pulled her out of school and homeschooled her. Even that was stressful and didn’t in the long run work for us. For her 8th grade year, she requested to go to a public school. I think she thought the grass was greener on the other side. She was excited to start a school with a larger pool of kids to become friends with, but once again, she struggled academically and socially. She continued to struggle with writing assignments and had a terrible time trying to get things done on time. A neuro-psych eval was recommended and conducted. It validated that, indeed, my daughter was very bright despite her academic struggles. Even my daughter admitted that it had been the most useful thing so far for her to understand herself. (Counseling and antidepressants had been attempted previously). It explained a lot and validated her intelligence. Then as she moved forward to high school we tried a number of modalities. We tried independent study but that triggered a lot of loneliness for my daughter even though the scholastic pressure was less. We tried private school again in that era; we tried medication and although that helped somewhat it wasn’t the end all be all. She still struggled and if her teachers hadn’t offered her extensions on some assignments she would have had to do summer school. We hired tutors and other writing coaches but things went horribly. Often tutors didn’t understand her real needs and thus it taught my daughter that asking for and receiving help was rather painful emotionally. But by junior year, when the assignments for writing got harder, we couldn’t move forward without the right fit support any longer. This time, I knew enough that I needed to find someone with experience with NVLD/ADHD. That’s when I found Jennifer. She had a honed process that helped my daughter get the assignment done in her own words, without so many tears, and done on time. In the beginning, my daughter still cried but over time those tears turned into laughter! Jennifer also has experience coaching adult entrepreneurs with ADHD so when she coaches my daughter she knows the positive future she can have with her condition because she’s helped others do the same. And her life skills support that she builds into this coaching makes me feel relieved as a mom. I can’t emphasize enough that if my story is your story, there is the right fit support and I found that with Jennifer Dougherty.
