Overall Positive, Insightful, & Validating
The Clinic for Attention Learning & Memory (CALM) is a compassionate, highly knowledgeable, and professional provider for assessment and treatment for individuals with ADHD, in addition to a variety of other neurocognitive conditions. I completed a comprehensive neurocognitive assessment with the clinic in the spring of 2021 and primarily worked with Kotatee Tamba and Katie Rubedor-Green. Also, their Office Manager, Claire Campbell, is super helpful on the administrative side. REFERRAL: I self-referred and Claire was very helpful starting the process via email. I answered some questions and my insurance (BCBS of MN) needed to pre-authorize parts of the assessment that were covered (This is the only carrier that covers CALM's assessment services, by the way.) INTAKE: The assessment began with a 90 min. virtual intake evaluation with Dr. Tamba. DATA COLLECTION: Next, I needed to do some legwork completing paperwork, authorizing that my previous providers release my records to CALM, and facilitating the completion of paperwork by my close family and some friends. This was quite the task, but I am glad I did it. In the words of Dr. Tamba, in our first introduction, "We will leave no stone unturned" and it is true! It was fun to revisit and even learn new information from my loved ones, particularly my mom related to her pregnancy and my early development. TESTING: Next the bulk of the assessment was completed in the clinic, across from Loring Park. I believe I did about 16-18 hr of in-clinic testing (spread out over several 4 hr sessions). This was interesting. FOLLOW-UP: About 3 weeks after the testing was completed, I had another 90 min. virtual follow-up with Dr. Tamba, where he reviewed with me in great detail the test results, their findings, and the conclusions they were able to make regarding my brain based on all of the data. REPORT: I received an official, final report by mail a couple weeks later and Claire was able to send me a digital copy with my expressed consent over email too. This report is nearly 40 pages long in its entirety, so there is a lot of information (as promised) that corroborated symptoms I've experienced throughout my previous 24 years of life. It was an emotional thing, feeling so seen and validated after living so long believing this was a character flaw. I've since followed up with Dr. Tamba for additional guidance and it is clear they are more than happy to help, even beyond the evaluation. Plus, I was able to get a time very quickly, which is always a plus when your brain is like a pinball machine, ha. IN SUMMARY: I had a wonderful experience and I highly recommend the CALM Clinic to anyone that may be experiencing symptoms related to ADHD, LD, or any other brain-based condition. They clearly know what they're doing and take the time to actually get to know you, as opposed to the 15 min. "hi and bye" we usually get with our providers.
