About this provider
We work with individuals, couples and families teaching new skills for the navigation of challenging situations. More effective communication can be the key to understanding in order to build positive relationships at home, school and work. These skills also enrich our social and romantic relationships!
CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy) is the best practice as this time; we use it to develop emotional self-regulation in all relationships. The exploration of feelings is critical to long term change but it can be scary sometimes. We provide a judgement free zone in order to identify feelings such as shame which can stand in the way of learning new ways to cope.
Shame is often misunderstood, however it is a common human state. Shame is the thought, belief or feelings that "I am bad, broken, or just not good enough!" Everyone experiences it; but the emotional sensitivity of those of us on the spectrum make it a bear to deal wit unless we learn self compassion!
Shame can show up in our thoughts and attitudes, in our actions or our "lack of action." It can be painful or frightening therefore it is important to know that it is understandable and manageable!
