I was diagnosed with ADHD as an adult, about six years ago. I had hit a wall. I knew I was smart, but I couldn’t understand why the basics of life were so hard: meeting deadlines, finishing projects, staying on top of finances, organizing my living space. When I looked at my life, I saw a series of unrealized goals and unfulfilled dreams. I felt confused, discouraged, and ashamed. I knew that things had to change.

After my diagnosis, I started learning everything I could about ADHD. As I did, my perspective started to shift. I realized that I wasn’t “broken.” I was simply different, and I needed to learn how to honor that difference. I hired an ADHD Life Coach, and as I worked with her, I started to see that change was possible. I could learn to prioritize, to manage my time, to sustain my attention, to persist in working towards my goals—I just had to work with my brain rather than against it. I realized that my ADHD wasn’t just a hindrance, it was also a source of creativity, ambition, empathy, and resilience.

This is my hope for you: that you can learn to judge yourself less, celebrate yourself more, and appreciate that your ADHD is an opportunity, not a curse.
