Description

Dr. Ellen B. Littman is a clinical psychologist licensed in New York State. Educated at Brown University, Yale University, the clinical psychology doctoral program at Long Island University, and the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, she has been involved with the field of attentional disorders for over 28 years.

In her private practice in Mount Kisco, NY, she specializes in identifying and treating complex presentations of ADHD that may be misinterpreted or overlooked. Described by the American Psychological Association as a pioneer in the identification of gender differences in ADHD, she has particular expertise with issues affecting women and girls.

Dr. Littman's approach is informed by her training in neuropsychological, cognitive-behavioral, and psychodynamic perspectives. She has developed a strengths-based assessment that provides the foundation for a holistic treatment plan. Therapy is solution-focused, and combines psychoeducation, insight, reframing, concrete strategies, and coaching. The impact of co-occurring conditions, such as bipolar disorder, anxiety, depression, and PTSD is also addressed.

Internationally recognized and published, Dr. Littman is co-author of the book "Understanding Girls with ADHD" and contributing author of the books "The Hidden Side of Adult ADHD", "Understanding Women with ADHD", and "Gender Differences in ADHD", among others. She is currently writing a book about ADHD in the high IQ population. Widely published and interviewed, she lectures frequently, offers supervision, and provides training to professionals.

With advanced training in trauma and crisis intervention, Dr. Littman has special interest in working with adult victims of chronic childhood trauma, with or without ADHD. Her interest in dissociation has led to extensive experience with the treatment of Dissociative Identity Disorder.
