SOAR is proud to serve youth diagnosed with LD and ADHD. Our adventure programs provide youth with challenges that allow them to develop critical life skills such as self awareness, self esteem, social skills, organization and time management strategies. Great for beginners and outdoor enthusiasts alike, our adventure activities vary by location and include such opportunities as whitewater rafting, horseback riding, rock climbing, canoeing, SCUBA diving, snorkeling, fishing, surfing, and much more! Located in the heart of the Blue Ridge mountains in NC, the WInd River Range of WY, coastal California, the Florida Keys, and the Adirondacks region of NY. We also offer international courses in Costa Rica and Belize.
We offer a Postgraduate Adventure for young adults, ages 18 to 25, which focuses on developing life skills critical to the transition into adulthood. This includes budgeting, cooking, expedition planning, life skills, and more. Students will begin at our Balsam Base and then travel to the Pisgah National forest and Outerbanks for exciting adventures.
Our private school, The Academy at SOAR provides academic credit opportunities for youth who benefit from individualized instruction and curriculum combine with adventure based learning. Based out of our Balsam Outdoor Learning center, the Academy is a one of a kind program that focuses on developing the whole child through academics, adventure, empowerment, life skills instruction, project based learning, field studies, advocation and community.
